Machame route is our most successful and chic mountaineering path on Mt. Kilimanjaro, essentially as outcome of the following two significant factors: On day 3 of the hike the landscape of this route, permit you to climb high and sleep low – when you start from Shira camp (3 847m) hike up to Lava Tower (4 642m) and then down to Barranco camp (3 984m) to overnight. The peak attempt path from Barafu camp has less loose scree (rocks) compared to the summit attempt path from Kibo Hut, making it slightly easier to reach the crater rim.

Arrive in Arusha:

We shall congregate in the evening  for a Pre-Climb briefing and an gear check. We shall also authenticate that you have suitable mandatory medical coverage and travel insurance.

Machame Gate to Machame Hut

The climb starts from Machame gate (1830m), we walk through the lush lower slopes of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Slowly gaining altitude while enjoying the varied flora and fauna of the rain forest, you will arrive to the first Machame Hut, positioned at 3000m above sea the level. If a day is brilliant we can look at the glaciated dome of Kibo. Machame Gate to Machame Hut (3,000 m): It takes 6-7 hours walking.

Machame Camp to Shira Camp

This is the straight mountaineering up a steep ridge to reach a small semicircular cliff known as Picnic site, and continue up a gentler ascent through the lower alpine moorland, which is known for gorgeous wild alpine flowers. The most spectacular views of Kibo peak can be seen from Shira Camp. Machame Hut to Shira Camp (3,840m): 4-6 hours walking.

Barafu:

Start hiking from the Barranco camp and hike about 10km to Barafu camp stopping at Karanga camp for lunch. You can arrive at Barranco camp in the evening. Enjoy dinner, prepare your summit gear and rest till 23:30pm when you will be woken up for the start of the high point attempt.

Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

A steep climb up the eastern wall leads us just below the Heim Glacier, where we may have some spectacular views of Kilimanjaro. We then take a steep outlet up the Great Barranco Wall, which divides us from the southeastern slopes of Kibo, The trail continues down into the alpine desert of the Karanga Valley, lastly we have a steep climb up to Karanga Camp, Barranco Camp to Karanga camp (4,000 m): 4-5 hours walking.

Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

A steep climb out of Karanga, and an straightforward path on compressed scree with wide views through this empty and dry landscape up to Barafu Camp. The two peaks Kibo and Mawenzi can been seen from Barafu Camp. After a hot lunch at the Camp, The rest of the day is spent resting as we get ready for the finishing ascent before an early night summit walk. Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp (4,600 m); 3-4 hours on walking.

Barafu Camp to Summit to Mweka Camp

Wake up ahead of midnight in the cover of darkness. We commence on a steep climb over loose volcanic scree has some well-graded zig-zag and a slow but steady pace will take us to rim of the main crater, Stella Point, at 5,735m. We shall relax there for few minutes to get pleasure from the sunrise over Mawenzi. Those who will still be in good mood can continue leisurely to make the two hour round trip from here along the crater rim to main peak (5,895 m), which is the highest point in Africa. After few minutes to appreciate your triumph we move down to Barafu is amazingly fast, and we stop at Barafu Camp for some stimulant, we keep on descending to reach Mweka Camp. Barafu Camp to Mweka Camp (3100 m): 13-15 hours walking.
